I traveled to Utah to visit family and celebrate the New Year. Of course we didn't pay attention to weather reports of approaching storms. So the night after we arrived a raging blizzard also arrived. The next morning it looked like a winter wonderland.
My car was covered with snow. I needed to be somewhere so I had to shovel snow for the first time in my life. I did grow up in Utah and Idaho, but I always had someone else around shoveling the snow for me.

New Year's Day we woke up to this:

In case you can't tell that is below zero.
.

At those temperatures, there is a different feel to the air. Your nose freezes shut when you breathe and if you go outside with damp hair it freezes in crunchy strands in just a few minutes.

As I was admiring the snow a poor little cow came running along and bawling. She must have wandered away from her nice, warm barn. Behind her was a bundled up cowboy.

Happy New Year, cowboy. And Cow.
Happy New Year!
